1. What types of classes do you offer?
I offer 1-on-1 private lessons for personalized learning and small group classes for interactive, collaborative learning. Both are conducted virtually online.
2. How long is each class?
Private lessons are generally 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hours depending on your schedule and needs. Group classes typically run for 1.5 hours.
3. What languages or levels do you teach?
I teach Mandarin Chinese (the official spoken Chinese), offering beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Pleese see the levels for the details. If you’re unsure about your level, I can help you decide during the free trial.
4. How do I know my level?
You can book a free trial where we’ll assess your current skills and discuss your goals to determine the right level for you.
5. Do I need prior knowledge of the language?
Not at all! My beginner classes are designed for complete novices. For other levels, I’ll assess your skills and recommend the best starting point.
6. Do I need any learning materials for the class?
For regular courses, you'll need textbooks, which I can recommend if needed. I provide supplementary materials, such as listening materials or videos, word cards, slides or docs.
For specialized classes, I provide all the materials, such as lesson plans, content and exercises. In this case, all you’ll need is a notebook and a pen.
If you have your preferred materials, please let me know and I'll be happy to work with your materials.
7. What if I miss a class?
For private lessons, please provide 24 hours to reschedule.
Missed group classes cannot be rescheduled. I will send you a written summary of what was covered and any relevant materials we used. And I also offer a free 45-min, 1-on-1 makeup session for each 8-week-package group course, please schedule it with me if you need.
8. Can I change my class time?
For private lessons, flexible rescheduling is available with sufficient notice, and I'll do my best to accommodate your schedule. Group class schedules are fixed but may adjust with demand.
9. What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payments via most credit cards (Visa, Master Card, etc) and Google Pay.
10. What is your refund policy?
Refunds are available for cancellations made at least 24 hours before private classes and 48 hours before group classes. Beyond these timeframes, refunds are not guaranteed. For further information, please refer to our terms.
11. What equipment do I need?
You’ll need a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a microphone and webcam.
12. Can I join from my phone?
Yes, but a larger screen like a laptop or tablet is recommended for better visibility of materials.
13. What makes your classes unique?
I offer interactive and tailored private or small-sized lessons, combined with proved methods and a supportive environment where you can practice confidently at your own pace and make real progress!
14. How soon will I see progress?
Progress varies depending on your effort and consistency. With regular practice, many students notice improvement within a few weeks.
